Great Children's Drawing Contest
Festival of the Oceans 2022

Delphinus invites you to reflect and express yourself to take care 
of the oceans and all forms of life that inhabit them!
Get inspired and participate!

Rules: 

The main theme of the drawings is the relationship and impact of humans on our ocean. The works must express ONE of the following FIVE themes: climate change, overfishing, plastic pollution, invasive species or conservation of the vaquita. Show the problem, but also solutions.

Drawings MUST have a LEDGER/TABLOID (27.9 cm × 43 cm) size. Works in other formats are not accepted. All techniques and materials will be accepted except for digital drawings. The back of the drawing should include the following information:

1.Title of the drawing.

2.Your full name, age and city of residence.

3.Name of your school and grade you are currently on.

4.Name of your father, mother or legal guardian.

5.A phone number and an e-mail.

Categories

There will be three major categories: (1) contestants from Quintana Roo, (2) contestants from the rest of the Mexican Republic and (3) international contestants.

Quintana Roo Category

All children and teenagers enrolled in any public or private primary and secondary school in the state of Quintana Roo can participate. Since the jury of this contest is independent from Delphinus, the children of Delphinus collaborators will be also able to participate.  There will be three subcategories in this category:

i.   Low Primary School (1st, 2nd and 3rd grade)

ii.  High Primary School (4th, 5th and 6th grade)

iii. Secondary School

All children and teenagers enrolled in any public or private primary and secondary school in the Mexican Republic can participate, except for those who live in the state of Quintana Roo. There will be three subcategories in this category:

i.  Low Primary School (1st, 2nd and 3rd grade)

ii. High Primary School (4th, 5th and 6th grade)

iii.Secondary School

National Category

International Category

All children and teenagers from 6 to 15 years of age who live outside of Mexico can participate. There will be three subcategories in this category:

i.    6-9 years

ii.  10-12 years

iii. 13-15 years

Prizes

Quintana Roo Category

There will be 3 winners for each subcategory::

First place: A bicycle and 4 PRIMAX dolphin interactions.

Second place: 2 PRIMAX dolphin interactions at the Interactive Aquarium of Cancun, Delphinus Puerto Morelos or Delphinus Riviera Maya.

Third place: 2 RIDE Dolphin interactions at Delphinus Riviera Maya or the Interactive Aquarium of Cancun.

All interaction certificates include restrictions on dates and availability.

National Category

There will be  3 winners for each subcategory and a global category winner:

National Winner: A trip to Cancun for 2 people (winner and legal guardian). It includes 2 round trip plane tickets departing from Mexico City, Guadalajara or Monterrey, according to the winner, 3 nights at an all-inclusive hotel, local transportation in Cancun (airport, hotel and dolphin interaction, if needed), and a double PRIMAX dolphin interaction at a Delphinus habitat. The winner might select the dates of travel up until June 30th, 2023, with the exception of summer, spring and winter vacations, as well as long weekends and mexican holidays.

First, second and third places of each subcategory: A Delphinus merchandise package, a commemorative medal, and a participation certificate that will be delivered via courier.

International Category

There will be  3 winners for each subcategory and a global category winner:

International Winner: A trip to Cancun for 2 people (winner and legal guardian). It includes 2 round trip plane tickets for up to 500.00 USD, 3 nights at an all-inclusive hotel, local transportation in Cancun (airport, hotel and dolphin interaction, if needed), and a double PRIMAX dolphin interaction at a Delphinus habitat. The winner might select the dates of travel up until June 30th, 2023, with the exception of summer, spring and winter vacations, as well as long weekends and mexican holidays.

First, second and third places of each subcategory: A Delphinus merchandise package, a commemorative medal, and a participation certificate that will be delivered via courier.

Winners of all categories will be announced on June 8th, 2022, on the inauguration of the 10th Festival of the Oceans of the Mexican Caribbean.

Prizes cannot be exchanged for valuables, money or other activities.

Submission of entries

Works can be sent to the Festival e-mail: rrpp@festivaldelosoceanos.org.mx, the drawings should be scanned or photographed on both sides, the file must have a resolution of at least 300 ppi. Participants must also send a picture of their drawing next to a ruler, to prove compliance with the size requirements.

Drawings will only be accepted if they were sent before April 30th , 2022 at 2:00 pm (GMT-5)

Jury and participation:

The jury will be made up of visual artists and media personalities from Cancun, Quintana Roo. Delphinus’ staff are not involved in defining the winners. The jury’s decision will be final.

This is a contest in good faith, for all controversies and aspects that are not expressly stated in these rules, Delphinus, through its executives, reserves the right to make the necessary decisions to resolve any situation.

The sole participation in this contest is a tacit acceptance of the rules presented in this document. The parents or guardians of participating children agree that Delphinus (Operadora Xuna SA de CV) or affiliated companies can use the drawings for publication, printing with or without profit, as well as transmission and retransmission by any means of communication known or to be known and that none of these uses will imply economic or other compensation, present or future.
